Data Analyst

Job Description

Working for a leading luxury jewellery house in the CEO office, your primarily responsible for data mining, collation and manipulation to produce business reports, tracking against measurable KPI’s, overall company strategy and sales.

You will have 2+ years in a similar role within a retail environment. You will be highly analytical and an expert in Excel / data manipulation.  The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Interpret data and analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Work with management to prioritise business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Capture of retail sales and CRM data from daily sales reports and SAP
  • Cleanse the data for any abnormalities
  • Capture wholesale sales data from SAP plus sell through data from the wholesale partners
  • Track this current and historical sales data to evaluate trends and measure revenue performance.  Providing key information on sales, product performance, gross margin and average transaction values
  • Track customer buying patterns by region and success of marketing activities.  Providing key sales exec performance, CRM data capture, client analysis information and research insights into business growth potential areas, marketing KPI results and ROI.
  • Working closely with merchandising track best-selling items and optimum stock holding positions by piece and collection.  Providing key information on the optimum sales mix and quantity for optimum sales and working capital management
  • Use this data and analysis to continuously improve the effectiveness of the sales and marketing teams
  • Produce internal publications of all data reports across the business, proficiently delivering reports, insights and recommendations.  Working and helping develop the systems to cleanse data and automating the reports where possible.

Skills:

  • Strong Analytic skill set with the ability collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy, and then provide actionable recommendations based on key performance indicators
  • Strong team-work; able to effectively participate and motivate others working within a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to present to all levels within the organisation
  • Should be goal oriented, confident, outgoing, and able to succeed under pressure within a competitive environment
  • Able to adapt to new technology
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. Desired knowledge includes pivot tables, vlookups, ifs (sumif, averageif, etc.), chart and graph creation, etc
  • Proficient in other Microsoft Office suite software: Word, PowerPoint
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and SAP
  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or other related experience
